501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization

Recovery Reprieve exists to serve the family members that addiction and mental illness leave standing alone.

Based in Memphis, Tennessee. The Healed Mom is our signature program, developed by women, for women.

Our Mission

The mother who holds the family together is rarely offered anything of her own.

Recovery Reprieve exists because of a gap that decades of research have documented and almost no service has closed. When a child develops a substance use disorder or a serious mental illness, the entire treatment system organizes itself around that child. The mother who holds the family together through it is counted as a support, never as a patient, and is rarely offered anything of her own.

Our work is to change that. We build and deliver clinically grounded, trauma-informed programs for mothers affected by a child's addiction, co-occurring disorder, mental health crisis, or death, including loss to overdose, suicide, and violence. We measure what we do with validated instruments, we report what we find honestly, and we hold our own claims to the standard we would expect of anyone else.

As a 501(c)(3) public charity, we are funded by individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and our EIN appears on every donation receipt.

Burden, not blame
We do not treat mothers as codependent or deficient. The distress they carry is a predictable response to chronic, uncontrollable stress, and the literature has moved on from the older framing even where the culture has not.
Doctoral-led care
Curriculum is written and taught by clinicians qualified to teach it. We do not repackage general wellness content as clinical support.
Measured, not asserted
Validated instruments at intake and at fixed intervals, so progress is quantified against published clinical thresholds rather than described in testimonials alone.
Honest about evidence
We state the strength of each component and the limits of our own data. Where our results are preliminary, we say so, in the same sentence.
